Waves that became songs

Why is it better to have
a strong rival than a weak ally?
Your strong enemy will never use cheap tricks!
To defeat you he will not degrade himself.

If times change he will be a worthy mate
he will stand beside you in rough weather.
A weak ally will sooner or later fail,
he will leave you in danger, betray or trade you.

Your enemies will reap him as your weakness.
Weak people can be lured, tricked or forced,
to do things they know they should not do,
and once they start doing they lack the strength to stop.

Being the mistletoe residing on an oak,
sooner or later he will suck you.
If you let him grow he will grow on you,
he will thrive on your resources and choke you
